The Carrock Fell ponies and me working the moves on Nova Scotia Arete (V5)
Set off early and drove up the M6 for an hour to get to Carrock. Once over shap the mist cleared to leave a beautiful autumn day, ideal conditions for the rough gabbro boulders of Carrock. Landed up at the boulders about nine. Warmed up on the low boulder and the mushroom boulder. Managed a nice V2 and some easier stuff. Then moved to the boardman's boulder, just as Mungrisedale hunt came barking past. After lots of attempts managed Rouse's wall (V5). Got the hard opening moves really quickly but kep't pissing about on the top out. It was a bit high and with no spotter I nearly left it, but one last go saw me topping out. Feeling knackerd after so many attempts I wandered up to the Canada Boulder. Managed the nice V3 wall problem called Canada dry and then started working the sit down start to Nova Scotia Arete (V5). Managed the first four or five powerful opening moves but couldn't get into the pinch to finish it. This problem felt good but I ran out of power to get it done. After this I tried to make a short cut across the fell to get to the mile high boulder. Managed to get myself stranded on top of some mini crags had to back track then ran out of time so bailed back to lancaster with skin intact
