Trackside Boulders Thorn Crag
After a heavy night on the booze with Kev last night I thought I would wander up to Thorn Crag to try to shake of the Hangover. The walk up sweated the booze out of me and with blue skys and pristine grit in front of me I was Psyched up to get some problems done. I headed to the sea view boulders and got stuck into the nice problems there. Climbing the slab (V0-), Sandy slab (V1/Fb 4+) Serrano (V0-), Jalapeno Arete (V3/Fb 6a), One eyed willy (V2/Fb 5+), Yatsufusa (V3/Fb 6a) and Fresno (V3/Fb 6a) to get warmed up.
My attention then turned to the main event, the leaning prow of Mothership Reconnection. This is an excellent V7/Fb7a+ problem that goes from sitting and is climbed via a series of calculated powerful pulls on slopers and side pulls. I had quite a few goes on this and sussed out the sequence but couldn’t quiet link the sitter in to the stand up before the slopers ripped holes in my finger tips.
I sacked this problem off for another day and taped up to climb a few of the other easy classics. I managed Poblano (V1/Fb 4+), Neil’s slab V1/Fb 4+,2001 a grit odyssey V5/Fb 6c, elemental V4/Fb 6b and Knights of the turntables V5/Fb 6c before it was time to plod back down the hill to the car and home.
