Ups and bloody downs aka a bloody moan

The missus has been away for two weeks and I’ve had high hopes of getting loads of stuff done. The first week (last week) was good and I was feeling relatively strong and got out loads to tick classics. This week hasn’t been as good I had planned to try to climb beast of burden at long crag and Ian’s arête at Gillercombe. Sunday I climbed at the bowderstone a good session most definitely but Sunday night i began to suffer for it and a developed a strange wrist injury/pain. Hoping it would go away after a day’s rest I didn’t climb Monday. It was cool though i’d get out Tuesday. I woke up Tuesday wrist still sore but I thought I’d give it a go up at Gillercombe. By the time I got up top of Shap the clouds had rolled in and it pissed it down. So I stopped off near tebay and walked the dog up t’other borrowdale valley that runs between the M6 and A6. Very pleasant little valley walk and on the positive side another day’s rest for the old wrist.
Today I woke up it looked fine so again i set off to honister for a session on Ian’s arête. Pulled up at the slate mine and then turned straight back for home as yet again the clouds rolled in. As it was looking fine(ish) across Morecambe bay I decided to stop off at trowbarrow for a go at the pit problem. The wrist didn’t feel too bad as I warmed up on red wall but conditions weren’t great things being a little greasy. I carried on getting the blood flowing hoping I would still feel good when I headed over to the shelter stone but then bloody typical the heavens opened and with the falling rain my psyche levels also fell. I attempted to climb some links from disco breeze into other finshes but it was all a bit humid and minging. So yet again I took the dog for a walk. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.
What’s a boring uneventful blog entry but that’s how my climbing seems to go ups and then just as things are starting to go well it all goes down bloody hill.
